Search and book: Leading US travel agent Globus family of brands uses the PASS Travel XML API tool XX/1 to access the Sabre Global Distribution System. The result is a dramatically improved air system performance from an average of 30 seconds handling time to 13 seconds.
Whether an organized trip, individual trip or cruise, with its four brands Globus, Cosmos, Monograms, and Avalon Waterways, Globus family of brands makes that dream vacation a reality for about 500,000 travelers every year. The company, based in Littleton, Colorado, makes and services thousands of air bookings per month. These bookings are handled in the Sabre Global Distribution System (GDS) with the help of a travel middleware. When the old service partner was no longer able to provide this interface, Globus family of brands needed a new solution fast. The company opted for the PASS Consulting Group and their Travel XML API tool XX/1, which integrates travel content from various different source systems and providers and compiles these in a standard XML format. “The transition was very easy, considering the complexities of dealing with not only a GDS, but in-house systems integration with complex business rules. Overall the transition took nine months from start to finish, and we felt that PASS was a true partner throughout the process”, says Cathy Johnson, Director, Globus family of brands. During the transition Globus family of brands had helpdesk access as needed and full documentation available for the developer staff. Johnson summarizes: “Our first full booking and travelling year with the PASS system in place was 2014 and we realized a 14 percent increase in air inclusive passengers. In addition, the air system performance improved dramatically, from an average of 30 seconds handling time to 13 seconds with higher search volume.”
