Sustainability up to the last mile"

Sustainability up to the last mile

At PASS Logistics Solutions AG, everything revolves around solutions for sustainable transport logistics at the joint stand of the Cluster Mobility & Logistics in Hall 8, Stand C55. At LogiMAT, the focus will be on optimizing the last mile and dealing transparently with the issue of CO2 emissions, among other things.

Sustainability and CO2 reduction are central topics at LogiMAT 2022. In this context, PASS will present the latest release of its route planning solution MAPSERVICES. The cloud-based tool supports transport service providers and fleet operators to improve their ecological footprint. Leveraging the newly developed PASS Optimization Service (POS) algorithm, it enables cost-efficient and environmentally conscious route planning and optimization. It not only improves capacity utilization, but also shows the CO2 required or saved.

For an ecological design of city logistics, i. e. the last mile, PASS has also integrated an algorithm adapted to cargo bikes and electric vehicles. In addition to special routing rules, this algorithm takes into account individual parameters such as battery range, model-dependent average speeds and transport capacity. MAPSERVICES separately displays the lower CO2 consumption compared to combustion vehicles. In the next step, it is planned to expand the tool to include a CO2 account, in which the carbon dioxide saved can be documented and balanced. In contrast to the negative trend of "greenwashing through certificate purchases", this will ensure much more transparent and sustainable action.

Research project with the University of Würzburg

In addition to this, PASS is currently working on precise driving and standing time forecasts for the CEP industry as part of the "FaST-KI" research project initiated together with the University of Würzburg. The goal is to improve the quality of last-mile delivery processes – through artificial intelligence-based technologies and self-learning algorithms.

Other new functions

In addition to the lightweight MAPSERVICES, PASS will have its enterprise route planning software PLANTOUR at LogiMAT, which also covers complex scheduling business processes. Both solutions use identical technologies and algorithms. PLANTOUR combines the advantages of customizable standard software with cloud services and thus meets even complex requirements. MAPSERVICES is set up as a cloud solution that can be integrated directly into a previous system via a REST API interface or used with its own web front end. New features include time-of-day routing that takes historical speed profiles into account, multi-day planning, and automatic order splitting for large volumes.
