PASS and DigiTurn GmbH enter into partnership for the digitization of the German Gymnastics Federation

Digitalization of the German Gymnastics Federation

PASS and DigiTurn GmbH conclude partnership

The PASS Consulting Group is a new partner of DigiTurn GmbH, the service provider of the German Gymnastics Federation (DTB). Together, the two companies are working on the digital future of Germany's second largest top sports association. The focus is on a modernization of the software of the umbrella organization for its membership management as well as the integration of the digital entry rights management under "Turnportal.de".

Across Germany, almost 18,000 clubs and around five million members in 22 state gymnastics associations belong to the German Gymnastics Federation, which was founded in 1848. Their digital administration, together with all competition results, is a technical challenge. For this purpose, the DTB uses software developed in-house by its service provider DigiTurn GmbH. This enables club and federation representatives to maintain member data in the system at any time.

Recommendations for action by PASS

In spring 2022, PASS conducted a so-called Quick Check for the DTB and DigiTurn and took a close look at the association's software applications. The result was a series of recommendations for action: modernization of the existing structures, migration of various applications, expansion with special features, and a rework of the system's graphical interfaces. Above all, the gymnastics portal should offer greater appeal to those responsible for clubs and associations in the future and become more intuitive to use.

"We are pleased that we as PASS are allowed to become active for one of the largest sports associations in Germany," explains Kevin Wittke, Head of Business Unit Sports at PASS. "We have been in talks with DTB about modernizing their existing system. After the successful Quick Check, we can now go into implementation together with DigiTurn."

"We are happy to have found a partner in PASS that not only has great expertise in the implementation and support of digital administration systems, but also brings a great affinity for sports," said DigiTurn Managing Director Kalle Zinnkann. "With this, we see ourselves very well positioned for the current update of our administration solutions, but also for the further digital requirements of the future."

Extensive requirements for update

In the coming months, PASS will implement a completely revised version of the association management system for managing all DTB processes and events. The focus will also be on improving user-friendliness with a new user interface in Responsive Design. Membership and competition management are given equal consideration. Interactive dashboards with numerous reporting options provide an overview for organizations as well as for athletes. The reporting tools can be extended individually and various filter options (e.g. according to number of members, age structure and disciplines in clubs & associations) can be determined by the user.

With the updates, the DTB ensures that its own software will be more attractive for the numerous clubs and state associations in the future, both visually and in terms of use. After the update, PASS and DigiTurn plan to continue working together on the continuous improvement of the portal.
